SINTILLATE IBIZA

SINTILLATE launch our second season in Ibiza in 2009 taking up residency every Sunday at the brand-new BoHo in San Antonio, Ibiza. BoHo's stylish and affordable ethos combined with SINTILLATE'S party expertise means clubbers will be able to have an incredible and high quality night out in Ibiza without breaking the bank. With its eccentric circular themed interior and opulent decor, BoHo, the former legendary Extasis club in San Antonio, Ibiza has been transformed into BoHo - the place to go wild in Ibiza this year. BoHo has a brand new state of the art sound and light systems have been installed and music will be provided by a carefully hand-picked array of the world's most relevant and forward-thinking promotions.

SINTILLATE, the UKs Best Promoter, is resident every Sunday with DJ Spoony & special guests providing the soundtrack. BoHo is the brainchild of a team which includes Jason Bull of Base Bar and Es Vive Hotel fame, and party organiser Tony Truman. Together they have realised a dream of creating an intimate space for clued-up clubbers in San Antonio - to compliment rather than compete with the bigger venues. The club is multi-levelled, set across one floor and has a capacity of 1000. Numerous bars and seating make this one of the most comfortable and accomodating clubs on the island and all for UK prices! SINTILLATE will be hosting every Sunday at BoHo (just near the egg roundabout). Entrance is 15euros in advance or 20euros on the door.

About Ibiza

Besides being the clubbing capital of the world, Ibiza also has an amazing natural beauty, a superb climate and a World Heritage site. Ibiza definitely has something for everyone. So whether you want to loose yourself to the music of the world's best DJs in Ibiza's unmatched party scene or if you want to enjoy the astounding clear sea, warm sun, attractive coves and eventful beaches - or a bit of everything - you have certainly come to the right place. Part of the Balearic Islands, Ibiza is a jewel in the Mediterranean Sea. You can explore the blissfulness of the island by day, party by night, and then relax on one of the many divine beaches. Alternatively, you can just party twenty-four-seven.

Ibiza is only 45 km long and 25 km wide, and has a year round population of 100.000. This of course increases dramatically during the summer months, when many seasonal workers and tourists descend upon the island. Most of the population is centered in and around the three major towns: the capital Ibiza Town, San Antonio and Santa Eulalia.

San Antonio is a town on the western coast of Ibiza. It is the second-largest town in Ibiza; an island long considered by clubbers to be the clubbing capital of the world. For two thousand years, Sant Antoni was a small fishing village but it began to grow in the late 1950s when many hotels and tourist resorts were built as part of a mass tourism initiative which took place across Spain. San Antonio gained its popularity in the mid 1990s when Ibiza established its reputation - particularly in Britain - as having the best night clubs and DJs in the world. Young British clubbers make up the vast majority of visitors to the area, mostly attracted by the nightlife as well as the laid-back Ibiza lifestyle. Ibiza is home to some of the biggest nightclubs in the world including Pacha, Privilege, Space, Amnesia and Eden and Es Paradis - The latter two situated in San Antonio.

The Egg

The Egg is the best known landmark in Sant Antoni, located in the centre of the main roundabout at the entrance to the town (just 50 metres from BoHo). The Egg is a statue to commemorate the local claim of having been the birthplace of Christopher Columbus. The statue is in the shape of an egg, containing at its centre a model of his ship; the Santa Maria. The choice of an egg comes from a story about Columbus, who when seeking funding for his Western route to the Indies, was told it was impossible. He then asked if standing an egg upright was impossible, and when told that it was, he cracked the base of an egg, thus making it possible for it to stand upright. He was then granted funding. Part of Sant Antoni's harbourside promenade, Passeig de ses Fonts is an area which was developed in the early 1990s to improve the appearance of the town. There are many plants, including palm trees and rubber plants, as well as massive fountains, which are illuminated by night.

Restaurants and Cafes

Across the square are a host of restaurants and cafes offering a view over Sant Antoni Bay. The 'West End' is where most of the night life in Sant Antoni is centred. It is a couple of streets wide; the main street being the Carrer de Santa Agnes, which hosts a variety of bars and small clubs ranging from the Dance and House music Ibiza is famed for to Rock and indie music. Also, around the bay there is another group of bars stretching from Plastik (next to the Egg) to Ibiza Rocks, Bar M and ending up at Linekers which are always busy. Along the coast in the west is the famous Sunset Strip where various bars including Cafe del Mar, Savannah and Cafe Mambo are situated. The West facing strip of coastline means that visitors can enjoy beautiful sunsets. Slightly further up the coastline Kanya, Sunsea Cafe and Coastline Cafe provide a newer generation of sunset bars, complete with swimming pools, and luxury apartments. San Antonio is home to two of the main Ibiza nightclubs: Eden and Es Paradis. Eden is home to some of the world's biggest DJs and promoters and is open from the first weekend in June through to mid to late September. Es Paradis is famous for its water party held every Wednesday and Saturday nights.

Bars

Out for a drink in Ibiza Town, you can be sure to find it all: tiny little bars in the windy lanes of the Old Town, Dalt Vila; buzzing music bars with the most beautiful waitresses (and waiters!), serving you exotic cocktails whilst you admire the night time parades; late night disco bars, where you can arrange reduced price disco tickets and warm yourself up at one of the many pre-parties; and many coffee and snack bars to sit and relax whilst you plan the rest of your day. As the day cools down the long Ibizan night warms up. In town, most of the action is located in the narrow streets of the old quarter. It's here where the onset of evening witnesses a startling transformation as Ibiza's extraordinary nocturnal fauna begins to stir. 'See and be seen' is the rule of the night as Ibiza's beautiful people emerge to rub shoulder pads with transvestites, the likes of which you've never seen before, ticket touts atop stilts and throngs of partygoers. A little higher up the hippie-chic boutiques, fetish shops and many gay bars which line the Calle de la virgin make for a fascinating midnight stroll. No matter what your age, nationality, interest or sex, the fairytale architecture of Dalt Vila, Europe's most ancient fortress city, perched high on the summit, will captivate you. The spell binding history and romance of Dalt Vila are evident in its narrow streets, whose very cobblestones have been polished smooth by the feet of centuries

The bars on Ibiza are at least as famous as its clubs as they set the scene and the mood for the nightlife to come. Drinks are a little cheaper here than in the clubs and many bars have free entry. There are club ticket deals and sometimes promotional offers on free chupitos (shots). People and DJs come to Ibiza from all over the world to party the whole night long, and, boy, are they good at it! It is the most experimental, beautiful and massive clubbing experience in the world. Season runs from June throughout September. Entrance fees are between 20-60. Some of the bars and clubs are listed below.

Bar M is famous for its Manumission pre-parties. Located straight on the waterfront and the place to be seen in Sant Antoni. (Avgda Dr Fleming, San Antonio). Base Bar Great place for star spotting. (Calle de Cipriano Carijo, Ibiza Town). Bora Bora Ibiza Free entry, right on the beach, close to the Space club and the party never stops. Don't forget the sunscreen. (Playa D'en Bossa). Cafe Del Mar It's the most famous of them all. Sitting by the shores of the bay, admiring the stunning sunset while listening to the authentic music of Cafe del Mar, it's a quintessential experience when visiting Ibiza. (Vara de Rey, San Antonio) ItacaFamous for its cocktails, Itaca has a tropical feeling and beautiful views of the Sant Antoni bay. (Avgda Dr Fleming, San Antonio) Km5 An absolutely amazing bar and they have good food too. Hard to find, but worth the search. (Calle Sant Josep, San Josep) K-ube New, modern, chic and in the centre of Sa Penya's bustling night life. (Calle de Cipriano Carijo, Ibiza Town) Mambo Known as the pre-club place. (Vara de Rey, San Antonio) Sa Trincha This club / bar is known to house the best DJ in the world and the bar is located on the beautiful Salines beach. (Playa Ses Salines) The Rock Bar The place to see and be seen in the lively nightlife of Ibiza Town. (Calle de Cipriano Carijo, Ibiza Town) Amnesia Amnesia is a favourite. Especially the closing parties in September are popular and it's not uncommon that Amnesia parties last until late afternoon the next day. (Calle Sano Antonio, San Rafael).

Eden It recently had a complete makeover putting it firmly among the top clubs in Ibiza. Dress code is dress to impress. (Calle Salvador Espriu s/n, San Antonio). El Divino Newest kid in the block, and it's certainly one of the most beautiful clubs on Ibiza. The views across the harbour are breathtaking. (Puerto Ibiza Nuevo, Ibiza Town) Es Paradis It's always packed and not without reason. Es Paradis is beautiful and offers a variety of weekly programs. The 'Fiestas del Aqua' is a big hit! (Calle Salvador Espriu, San Antonio) Pacha Pacha's decor, small rooms and snug corners gives the club an intimate and cosy atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit. (Ave 8 de Agosto, Ibiza Town) Privilege Privilege is the world's biggest club, so big it even has a separate DJ for the toilets! Decor is very cool and the club hosts Manumission on Monday nights. Buy the ticket beforehand in order to avoid the queue at the door. (Calle San Antono, Ibiza Town) Space Space is also open when everybody else is shut. Especially the opening parties are popular. Nicely situated on Bossa beach, this club is highly recommended. (Playa d'en Bossa).

Between the Dalt Vila and the Port of Ibiza lies the area of Sa Penya. A former fishermans' quarter, the small cozy streets now sizzles with life in the summer as the busiest bars, restaurants and shops are here. Don't miss the nightly club parades when drag queens and musicians hand out fliers for the evening's parties. (Sa Penya, Ibiza Town).

Exploring Ibiza>

If you feel like exploring the island through the pine-wooded hills to distant and secluded coves, you can rent cars, mopeds and bicycles at reasonable prices almost every where on the Island. A few places worth seeing are as follows. Es Canar Hippie Market The enormous market offers a great choice of clothing and jewelry at low prices. If you look closely you can still spot some of the original hippies who started the market in the 1960s. It's open every Wednesday 10.00-19.00 from May until October. (Take the bus 13 to Santa Eularia, then change to bus 18 for Es Canar). Ses Salines is also well worth a visit. The salt fields have been in use for over 2000 years and created the 'white gold' of Ibiza. It was the island's main industry until tourism came to Ibiza. As the water evaporates over the hot summer, salt crust is left on the bottom of the lakes making a spectacular sight every night as it glistens when the sun sets. Take your camera! If you're after a bit of history then visit Necropolis De Puig D'es Molins. The Museum of Archaeology is attached to this ancient Carthage burial site thought to contain over 4,000 graves. The archeological museum gives a good picture of life on Ibiza a couple of thousand years ago. (Via Romana 31, Dalt Vila, Ibiza Town)
